Summer Scholar Research Program with Dr. Jae Jung in Department of Radiation Oncology
June 2025-present
During the Summer Scholars Research Program, I focused on applying artificial intelligence to radiation oncology. My project involved refining a U-Net convolutional neural network to automate tumor volume contouring in breast brachytherapy, using MATLAB CERR to analyze patient CT scans and Python to optimize the AI model. At the end of the program, I presented my poster, “Analysis of a U-Net AI Model to Assist in Tumor Volume Contouring,” at the Annual Medical Student Scholarship Forum, where I shared how AI can reduce physician variability and improve efficiency in radiation treatment planning.

At the medical school, I attend both class and medical student council meetings to share resources, answer questions, and bring student concerns forward. As a Conduct Committee Member at Brody, I was selected as one of only two first-year medical students to serve on the committee responsible for hearing cases of student misconduct.
